I was privileged enough to work with the wonderful women of Send Prison recently. Having acquired this painting in 2017, the National Gallery London has sent the painting ‘on tour’ to reach people who wouldn’t be able to come and see it in London. https://www.nationalgallery.org.uk/whats-on/artemisia-visits

In September I have been invited on a residency to Guangxi Province in south-west China and will also be in Beijing.I am really grateful to the Arts Council for backing this adventure and to Guangxi Art Institute for inviting and supporting me.During my time there, nearly three weeks, I’ll be travelling with a Chinese and Taiwanese artist (and a translator!) into the countryside of Guangxi Province as well as spending time at the Art School of Guangxi Province, giving a presentation on my work and meeting other artists.Time in Beijing will be spent on research and development for my practice, exploring historical and contemporary practice in ink and watercolour on paper and meeting with galleries and artists.
I plan to keep a blog while I’m away, Chinese internet allowing! If you’d like to sign up for an email feed to the blog, I promise to keep entries brief and not to inundate you, please sign up on the 'contact' page of this website.

Please join me at Dulwich Picture Gallery for this new course. Taking inspiration from the Adrian Van de Velde, Dutch master of Landscape exhibition, as well as the permanent collection, this practical course will study a range of Dutch Seascapes and consider different elements such as light, distance, contrast, skies and atmosphere as we create our own seascapes using a variety of media and scale. Suitable for all levels.
I have been invited to lead this course at Fulham Palace, where we will take full advantage of the Palace’s riverside location. We'll work on the foreshore when the tide permits and then create more work using watercolours, ink and found objects inspired by the movement and flow of the river. Everyone welcome, booking essential.
Join me and artist Aliki Braine for this course in July.
