Four Seas was commissioned by the Royal College of Music as part of the Benjamin Britten centenary celebrations. The project ‘Britten: An Exploration’ drew inspiration from Britten’s Four Sea Interludes from Peter Grimes Op. 33a, and composer Charlotte Harding’s Introduction. The work was made on the beach at Aldeburgh, where Britten wrote Peter Grimes and the four different ‘books’ reflect the four interludes. It is permanently installed near the Britten Theatre at the RCM, London.
